The Untold Story: Sooraj Pancholi on His Father, Family, and Finding Closure!

Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was acquitted in the Jiah Khan abetment to suicide case in 2023 after a decade-long legal battle, has recently spoken out about the profound impact the ordeal had on his life and, particularly, on his relationship with his family. In candid interviews, Pancholi revealed that the difficult period, marked by intense public scrutiny and media trials, ultimately strengthened his bond with his father, Aditya Pancholi, and mother, Zarina Wahab.

 

Pancholi shared that there was a time when he and his family "couldn't make eye contact with each other" due to the immense pain they were all enduring. He stated, "When something like that happens to a family, we, of course, get close. We were not that close before the incident, but after that, it brought us very close."

 

He specifically highlighted how his relationship with his father, Aditya Pancholi, evolved. Sooraj admitted to not being close to his father at one point but explained that he came to understand him better during the trying times. He praised his father for being "rock solid purely as a father" and for always being there for him and his sister.

 

The actor, who was in his early twenties when the case began in 2013, expressed how the prolonged legal battle and the constant "trolling, news, and bashing" took a significant toll on his life, affecting his career and personal growth. He felt misunderstood and marginalized by the industry and media. However, he credited his family's unwavering support for helping him remain positive throughout the "low phase."

 

Sooraj Pancholi was accused of abetting Jiah Khan's suicide in 2013, following the discovery of a six-page note attributed to Jiah. He was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide, a charge he consistently denied. After a trial that commenced in 2019, a special CBI court acquitted him in April 2023 due to insufficient evidence.

 

His mother, Zarina Wahab, also previously shared that Jiah and Sooraj had broken up a month before her death, and that Jiah had been distressed over losing a film role. She also revealed that Jiah had attempted to contact Sooraj on the day of her death, but he was unable to answer.

 

With the legal battle behind him, Sooraj Pancholi is now focusing on his career. He was recently seen in the historical action film Kesari Veer. He expressed pride in having stood up for himself and choosing to continue his path in the entertainment industry despite the challenges.
