Salman Khan's Untold Story: How He Fought the 'Suicidal Disease' for 7 Years!
NEWS RATING
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is known for his larger-than-life persona and an unparalleled fan following. Yet, beneath the veneer of stardom, he has been battling a debilitating condition for over seven years. In a shocking and emotional revelation on the talk show, Two Much, the actor opened up about his harrowing struggle with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a chronic nerve disorder often referred to as the "suicidal disease" due to its excruciating, unbearable pain.

A Simple Touch, a Jolt of Agony

The most startling part of Salman's story is how the pain began. He pinpointed the exact moment to the sets of his 2007 film, Partner. While filming, co-star Lara Dutta gently removed a strand of hair from his face. What should have been a simple, harmless gesture triggered a jolt of pain so intense that he joked, "Wow Lara, you're electrifying!" He initially dismissed it as a dental issue, but the pain, which he says felt like an electric shock, was the onset of a life-altering condition.

7.5 Years of Unbearable Pain

For over seven and a half years, Salman lived with a pain that he says he wouldn't wish on his "biggest enemy." He described how the pain would strike every four to five minutes, making basic daily activities a monumental challenge.

"It used to take me an hour and a half to have my breakfast," he shared, explaining that chewing an omelette was so painful he would have to force himself to eat, enduring a level of agony that left him "straight to dinner" with no lunch in between. Even powerful painkillers did little to alleviate the suffering.

Undergoing an Eight-Hour Gamma Knife Surgery

After years of living in a constant state of pain, Salman underwent a major medical procedure to find relief. He revealed that he had an eight-hour Gamma Knife surgery, a non-invasive procedure that involved "screws fixed on your face for 7-8 hours." The actor, who was told the surgery might only reduce his pain by 20-30%, was relieved to find that by "God's grace," the pain vanished completely.

While the pain of trigeminal neuralgia is now gone, Salman candidly admitted to still living with an aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation. However, he maintains a positive outlook, stating that one has to "live with it" just as many people live with heart conditions and other serious ailments.

Raising Awareness for a Hidden Struggle

By sharing his story, Salman Khan has shed light on a condition that affects many but is often misunderstood. His willingness to speak so openly about his painful journey not only gives hope to those suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia but also raises crucial awareness about a disease that can lead to despair. His journey from a "suicidal disease" to a full recovery is a testament to his resilience and strength, proving that even a superstar is not immune to life's most challenging battles.
