Beyond the Flops: R Madhavan Defends Ranveer Singh's Star Power!
NEWS RATING
Bollywood actor R Madhavan has vehemently dismissed speculations surrounding his 'Dhurandhar' co-star Ranveer Singh's career, stating firmly that 'a couple of not-so-good films don't end an actor's career.' His strong defense comes amidst ongoing media chatter and fan concerns following a few underwhelming box office performances by Ranveer Singh.

Ranveer Singh, known for his high-energy performances and versatile acting, faced a challenging phase with films like 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar' and 'Cirkus' not resonating well with audiences. This led to a wave of discussions about his career trajectory and the need for a "comeback."

Madhavan's Resolute Defense

However, R Madhavan, who shares the screen with Ranveer in the upcoming action-thriller 'Dhurandhar,' has swiftly put these doubts to rest. In a recent interview, Madhavan emphasized that Ranveer has never truly been "written off." He elaborated, "I don't think Ranveer Singh has ever been written off. A couple of 'not so good' films doesn't end an actor's career. He's truly good and an extraordinary actor."

Madhavan further highlighted the tendency of the media to create narratives of "writing people off and writing them in," suggesting it's more about generating headlines than reflecting reality. He added that both he and Ranveer operate from a place of security, unburdened by the pressure to constantly be on set or fear losing market value.

Quality Over Quantity: A Hollywood Parallel

Drawing a compelling parallel with Hollywood's biggest names, Madhavan pointed out, "Even the biggest stars like Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks have done barely 15 films in their career. That's the speed of doing good work." This comparison underscores his belief that quality and thoughtful filmmaking should take precedence over the sheer volume of releases, a sentiment that resonates deeply with the evolving Indian cinematic landscape.

He stressed that today's audience is more informed and discerning, demanding well-crafted characters and compelling stories. "This is a whole new era. Now, we have to work really hard for our characters and stories to convince our audience because the common man today is well-educated. If we are making a movie for the empowered Indian then we will have to make efficient films. It takes time."

'Dhurandhar': A Fresh Start?

Ranveer Singh is now set to electrify the big screen with 'Dhurandhar,' directed by Aditya Dhar. The high-octane spy thriller also features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. The first look and initial buzz around 'Dhurandhar' suggest a promising outing for Ranveer, and fans are eagerly anticipating his performance in this action-packed role. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 5, 2025.

Madhavan's unwavering support for his co-star serves as a powerful reminder that an actor's career is a marathon, not a sprint, and true talent often withstands temporary setbacks. With 'Dhurandhar' on the horizon, Ranveer Singh appears poised to reaffirm his position as one of Bollywood's most dynamic and exceptional actors.
