Shakun Batra's Next Cinematic Journey Begins!
Shakun Batra directed his first film in 2O12, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. He then directed Kapoor & Sons, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, and Fawad Khan. With the latter even becoming a box office triumph, both films received positive reviews from viewers. Gehraiyaan, which had its digital debut, was subsequently directed by him and starred Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ananya Panday. Shakun Batra has secured his next directing gig with Junglee Pictures, following three collaborations with Dharma Productions.
Junglee Pictures will produce Shakun Batra's upcoming film, which is anticipated to begin production in 2025, according to people familiar with the matter. “When Shakun heard about the idea, it was an instant yes from him to come on board to develop and direct the film. Shakun and Junglee Pictures have worked on the script together, as the former has added his own flavour to the same along with the writers Suprotim Sen Gupta and Kunal Aneja. It’s an exciting and new space for Shakun,” disclosed a source close to the development.
The source went on to say that the script is a comedy that breaks genres and opens up a whole new world for moviegoers. “They are in the final stages of revisions on the script before they start meeting actors” the source further revealed.
In the meantime, Shakun and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions are co-producing a feature film that is now in the screenplay phase. “Even this one is an extremely exciting project, which has been developed by Shakun and Ayesha Devitre, and the script is expected to be locked in a fortnight, post which it proceeds to the casting stage,” the source ended the conversation.
