Dave Bautista's Marvel Future: Drax Return or DC Debut?
NEWS RATING
The actor who portrayed Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Dave Bautista, declared that he was finished playing the role. He would be willing to go back, though, if director James Gunn asked him to.

In a recent interview with a tabloid, Bautista clarified this. He revealed, "Drax is completely close to me. Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested.”

The former WWE star further revealed, “If James called me, which is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay, he’s gone a different route.” Given that Gunn is currently co-head of DC Studios, a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film is unlikely to be released anytime soon.

Even though Bautista is finished with Drax, he still wants to work on superhero movies. He expressed his desire to portray a different character from the DC or Marvel universes.

Bautista revealed that he loves comic novels and the world of superheroes. Whether with Marvel or DC, he stated that he would like returning to that universe. He said that he has communicated his interest in future roles to the Russo brothers and James Gunn.

Bautista went on to say that he had directly communicated his desire in future roles to the Russo brothers and James Gunn. "Don't count me out," he remarked, adding that he would be willing to play any role that fit him. But he was aware that the Drax persona had reached its limit for him.

In James Gunn's 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista made his debut as Drax. In the 2017 and 2023 sequels, he played the same part again.

Additionally, he portrayed Drax in several Marvel films, including the 2018 and 2019 Antony and Joe Russo-directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, Bautista starred in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).
