Vishal Bhardwaj opens up about Ranbir Kapoor's Animal!

Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring a star-studded cast that included Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Ranbir Kapoor, released in theatres in December and became an instant hit. But despite its box office success, the movie drew criticism from reviewers and viewers alike.

 

Its depiction of toxic masculinity and apparent misogyny prompted many to criticize it. Director Vishal Bhardwaj has now given the movie a review. He admitted that even though he detested the movie, he also found himself liking it.

 

In a media chat with a tabloid, Vishal Bhardwaj revealed, “I have still not made up my mind what to feel about that film. Because I enjoyed it and at the same time I hated it.”

 

The director observed that throughout time, audience preferences had evolved. Animal and other similar films continue to be huge hits and draw sizable audiences. This unexpected popularity indicates that there is still a sizable market for this kind of material.
