Nitanshi Goel's Powerful Performance Left Kiran Rao in Tears!

With her portrayal in Laapataa Ladies, India's official Oscar entry for 2025, Nitanshi Goel left a lasting effect both domestically and abroad. She captivated fans with her charming innocence while portraying Phool Kumari. She talked about her unforgettable experience working with filmmaker Kiran Rao in a recent interview, describing how her improvised public restroom scene during production brought everyone on set to tears. Rao also called her a 'one-take artist' for this performance.

 

Nitanshi Goel disclosed in a media interview that a crucial moment in Laapataa Ladies was completely improvised. She clarified that the first idea did not include her character Phool's emotional breakdown in a public restroom at a train station.

According to Nitanshi, she told director Kiran Rao that Phool's fragility called for this kind of moment, and Rao urged her to follow her gut. The entire team was touched by the sight; several were said to have clapped and started crying after the take.

 

In Laapataa Ladies, Goel described how she created a moment that was so moving that it brought the crew to tears. She disclosed that the scene in which her character, Phool, sobs in a train station public restroom wasn't staged.

Nitanshi revealed that she had advised Kiran Rao that Phool needed to have an emotional breakdown because of her fragility. She gave the stirring performance, which brought everyone on set to tears and received plaudits from the crew, after Rao urged her to follow her gut.
